Our Vision:

A world where youth are mentally healthy, not in distress.

Our Mission:

To work alongside youth to build communities and advocate for equitable systems that support their mental health needs.

By empowering youth to understand mental health, support their peers, and advocate for change, we build a future where youth can thrive.

Building a Better Future for Youth

The complex challenges young people are dealing with today are only growing. To end the crisis youth are facing, and build a future where youth can not only survive, but thrive, we need to build solutions that work for youth, with them.

Our Commitment to Transparency and Trust

Jack.org is accredited by Imagine Canada, Canada’s most esteemed nonprofit standards, for excellence in accountability, transparency, and good governance. We are dedicated to holding ourselves to the highest standards for our community, supporters, and the youth we serve.

Our History

Since our inception in 2010, Jack.org has been at the forefront of developing innovative solutions by young people, for young people. What began as a small pilot of events for youth has grown into a network of thousands of young people from coast to coast to coast whose insight and work to support their peers on the ground is shaping a a future where young people everywhere can thrive.

We have always been focused on enabling the enormous potential of young people as supporters – young people are often the first to notice when a friend or classmate is struggling; they can be credible sources of information for young people; and young people speaking up about mental health normalizes difficult conversation.

For 15 years, we’ve adapted and expanded our work to meet the needs of young people. We've made enormous strides in supporting youth through our core programs — Jack Talks, Jack Chapters, and Be There. We must continue to innovate and grow if we are to continue to meet the needs of youth.

Our Principles

How We're Building The Future Youth Need.

Youth Front and Centre

Young people are at the core of everything we do. Understanding the lived-experience of youth, particularly those who have been historically excluded or silenced, is a regular, deliberate and integrated practice. Alongside young people, we create space for youth to support one another, co-design programs, and champion strategies and policies that reflect their experiences and expertise.

Belonging Builds Community

Every aspect of our work is intentional about creating belonging. That's because it is a foundational element to the communities we want to foster: ones that are built around shared experiences, concerns, and priorities where trust and safety are present.

Intentional Inclusion

Centring diverse lived-experiences is essential to the work we do. We prioritize anti-oppressive, intersectional, identity affirming, and culturally relevant practices in our work because we know that these these are essential for young people's mental health to thrive.

Go Far, Go Together

It will take leadership and expertise from many areas to create a true change in youth mental health. We seek to set the table for collaboration, and enter spaces with humility and a commitment to listening to the needs of our partners as we work together to build a better future.
